The SETAC Europe 32nd Annual Meeting is held as a fully-fledged in-person meeting where you can benefit from onsite presentation sessions, topical discussions, keynote lectures, poster socials, satellite meetings and exhibitor & networking events. Moreover, having incorporated the best of what we learned from our virtual meetings, remote participation and presentation are also possible. Online features are limited to: 

  • Sharing your research by making a pre-recorded presentation available on-demand
  • Interacting with other virtual and onsite participants through chat features linked to your presentation file
  • Joining selected topical discussion sessions and keynote lectures via the live streaming programme

Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts for Oral and Poster presentations in selected tracks and sessions. Please make sure you have read the conceptual meeting format and the instructions BEFORE submitting your abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is Wednesday 1 December 2021, 23:59 Central European Time.

Instructions for short abstracts (POSTER and ORAL presentation)

Only online submitted abstracts will be accepted. When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Abstract title: max 200 characters (including spaces), NOT in all caps;
  • Abstract text: max 2500 characters (including spaces);
  • Track and session: Please check the tracks and sessions and their description before submitting;
  • (Co-)authors: name and affiliation; specify the presenting author.
  • Keywords: max 4;
  • Presentation preference: Oral presentation or Poster presentation. NOTES:
    • Presenters submitting a paper for oral presentation MUST also include an extended abstract attached to their submission (in addition to the short abstract), regardless of whether they plan to participate remotely or in person. Only submissions including an extended abstract will be considered for an oral presentation, see instructions below. Presenters with a preference for poster presentation should not include an extended abstract.
    • Max. number of abstracts for oral presentation is 1. Poster abstracts are unlimited.
  • Confirm how you plan to attend the meeting and present: remotely (= pre-recorded presentation only) or in-person (= pre-recorded AND live presentation). Kindly note that the session schedule and lineup for in-person presentations will be prepared as of 15 December 2021!
  • In-person presenters only: confirm if you would like to participate in the SETAC Europe Young Scientist Award

NOTE: By submitting your short abstract, you give SETAC permission to publish it in the online meeting programme that will be made available to all participants.

Instructions for extended abstracts (additional requirement for ORAL presentation)

Presenters submitting a paper for an oral presentation MUST submit both a short abstract (see instructions) and an extended abstract (max. 2 pages, including tables, figures and references), regardless of whether they plan to participate remotely or in-person. Applications for oral presentation without extended abstract will be automatically converted to poster preference.

Read the instructions for the extended abstract. Please use the template Word file to write your extended abstract and attach it to your abstract submission as a .pdf file.

NOTE: In case you are selected to give an oral presentation, your extended abstract will be available in the online meeting programme (open one month prior to the meeting), unless you indicate during the abstract submission NOT to publish the extended abstract.
